Restricting accessibility
Doctors have set out a list of recommendations to stem the tide of obesity, with a particular focus on minimising young people’s susceptibility to unhealthy food.
Is the increase of obesity in children and teenagers mainly down to the pure accessibility of junk food, or the amount of advertising for these products?
Limiting the amount of food high in saturated fat, salt and sugars would undoubtedly slow and reduce the UK’s collective weight gain. But the issue goes deeper than this, and increasing regulations may only go so far to impact a culture that has become more and more accepting of the overweight and obese.
