Stop and think
The requested pause for SOS’s judicial review has been denied, as the result of the case could influence the Independent Reconfiguration Panel (IRP)’s recommendations.
SOS have accepted the conclusion with good grace, and even attempted to frame it as a positive step forward that a date is being fixed.
But were the reasons for the pause good enough in the first place? SOS has stated that it wished to avoid a court case if at all possible, yet still considered it necessary to delay legal proceedings.
As the Children’s Heart Federation pointed out: if the SOS believes they have a strong case to take to court, they should seek action as swiftly as possible in order to achieve their desired result – a change in the unit closure decision.
