From: Tim Ellis
Subject: Reprieve for Brompton from High Court judge (NHE, November 8)

Much of the talk from the JCPCT has been how expertise does not reside in bricks and mortar. Well, think of the outrage if it was suggested that the brand that is GOSH was earmarked for closure. People would be up in arms saying it is a national treasure.

World class units should only be broken up if they begin to show signs of faltering. The Brompton shows no sign of this and its culture could not easily be replicated. The hospital met all the criteria yet Safe and Sustainable wanted to kick them into touch. It bore no logic.
