9000 public sector workers earn more than the Prime Minister
A study carried out for the BBC has found that around 9000 public sector workers, including those from the NHS, earn more than the Prime Minister.
These figures come at a time when public sector unions are calling for co-ordinated strikes to stop reductions in public spending.
Adam Marshall, of the British Chambers of Commerce, told the Telegraph: “These figures illustrate the wider problem of inflated pay that goes throughout much of the public sector.
“The best and brightest graduates are choosing to go into the public sector rather than setting up in business and contributing to the economy because we have the incentives all messed up.”
