London foundation trust appoints new chief executive
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS FT has appointed Sarah Tedford as its new chief executive.
Tedford, who has more than 30 years of NHS experience, will join the trust from Manchester Royal Infirmary hospital, where she is currently the CEO.
Tedford said: “I’m delighted to be joining Hillingdon and am excited about leading the organisation’s passionate and motivated teams in continuing to improve health services for local people.
“I’m also greatly looking forward to working with colleagues across the wider healthcare system to help shape future health and care services for the borough of Hillingdon.”
Tedford began her career in healthcare as a nurse in the West Suffolk NHS FT, and previously spent six months on secondment to both NHS England and NHS Improvement as winter director for the London region.
She will replace Shane DeGaris, who moved across London to Barts Health NHS Trust after six years at Hillingdon.
Derek Smith, a health care consultant, will fill in at Hillingdon Hospitals as interim chief executive until Tedford moves into her new role in November.
The trust’s chair, Richard Sumray, said: “The Board is delighted to announce Sarah’s appointment and is pleased to have secured someone of her calibre for the role.
“Her extensive knowledge of the NHS and depth of experience will be invaluable in helping to steer the trust through the challenging times ahead.”
