Work underway on £14.5m specialist CAMHS unit in Leeds

Work on a new state-of-the-art £14.5m Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) unit, being built in partnerships between Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust and Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is now underway in Leeds.

The 22-bedroom specialist unit is set to provide much-needed space and modern facilities for children and young people with mental health needs from across West Yorkshire, with the facility due to open in autumn 2021.

The unit will help bolster the region’s mental health services and ensure children and young people can access the care they need closer to home. At present, many have to be placed in facilities out of the local area if it is where there is available bed capacity.

Once open, Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust will provide the clinical services operating out of the facility.

The building itself is being provided by their partners on the project, Leeds and York Partnerships NHS FT. It will replace the current Grade II-listed Little Woodhouse Hall, which currently serves as the inpatient CAMHS base for the area.
