Chair sought to create ‘new organisational culture’ at special measures trust

Two south east trusts are seeking a new chair to “play a key leadership role” in leading the providers’ ‘patient first’ approach to medical care.

The Western Sussex Hospitals FT and the Brighton and Sussex University NHS Trust were described as “at different stages of their improvement journey,” with Western Sussex being rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC while Brighton and Sussex is in need of a chair who can improve performance and build a new organisational culture.

The Brighton trust was placed in special measures by the CQC in August 2016 and in financial special measures by NHS Improvement (NHSI) in October of the same year.

Shortly thereafter, the board at Western Sussex entered a three-year management contract with Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust in April 2017.

The new chair will therefore be in control of both trusts and “equally committed to empowering frontline staff to identify and deliver positive change in all areas of their work.”

NHSI said: “We are looking forward to working with someone who can be both an influencer and ambassador for the two trusts among our stakeholders and within our communities, and who has a passion for quality and excellence to match that of our dedicated and innovative workforce.

“We welcome applications from all sections of society, including women, people from BAME backgrounds and those with disabilities.”

Please apply via NHS Jobs which will require you to complete a short application form and provide your curriculum vitae and the names of three referees who can comment on your suitability for the roles.
