DHSC workforce consultation will inform joint health and care strategy due in summer

A consultation focusing on the adult social care workforce has been launched by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), in partnership with workforce development charity Skills for Care.

The consultation will seek views on how to address the challenges that the workforce faces, including recruitment and retention, professional development, effective workforce planning and the role of regulation.

The DHSC says that responses will feed into a joint health and social care workforce strategy this summer, and will inform the much-delayed adult social care green paper.

Care minister Caroline Dinenage said: “The social care workforce is the backbone of the care sector and is dedicated to caring for society’s most vulnerable people.

“We know there are challenges – that’s why we need to ensure the workforce is supported to enable the transformation needed to deliver the best quality of care into the future.

“I urge everyone involved in, or working in care, to take part in the consultation – this is your chance to help shape the future for the adult social care workforce.”

To take part, visit the DHSC’s dedicated website.
