New 6Cs online hub launched to mark NHS’s 65th birthday
NHS England chief executive Sir David Nicholson launched the 6C’s online hub celebrate to mark the 65th anniversary of the NHS.
On his visit to the Royal Wolverhampton Hospital NHS Trust, Sir David said: “This provides an excellent opportunity for nursing staff to continue to develop and improve the quality of care and a positive patient experience in a way that hasn’t been available before. Despite the challenges we face we should embrace the potential possibilities for nurses, midwives and carers that this fantastic resource opens up.”
The 6Cs – Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage and Commitment – were first highlighted in NHS England’s ‘Compassion in Practice’ strategy, launched by chief nursing officer Jane Cummings at the end of last year. Now, the new communication hub will offer support and help to staff, by linking to evidence-based tools and best practice from across the country.
NHS England urged nurses, midwives and care staff to sign up and create a profile to make the most of it.
