NHS-CSC deal could see more Lorenzo roll-outs
Computing giant CSC has signed a ‘non-binding letter of intent’ with the NHS to find a way forward over its contracts to deliver new IT systems and electronic health records at trusts, originally signed as part of the defunct National Programme for IT.
CSC said the letter “reflects a new approach” based on localised decision making, but with systems meeting “rigorous national standards” and interoperable with others.
It anticipates a “broad agreement” to be entered into by the end of this month, with CSC contracted to deliver more implementations of its Lorenzo software.
It said in a statement: “CSC believes that the principles contained in the Letter of Intent represent the appropriate way to support the NHS' reform agenda, providing value for money to taxpayers and, through technology, significantly improving standards of patient care in England.”
