NHS Greater East Midlands CSU and NHS Arden CSU announce merger
Two NHS organisations providing specialist support to 37 CCGs over a wide geographic area are the latest CSUs to merge.
NHS Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit and NHS Arden Commissioning Support have confirmed that they will merge on 1 April 2015, following approval from NHS England.
The new organisation will provide commissioning support services including service transformation, informatics and Continuing Health Care services as well as corporate functions such as finance and human resources to CCGs. The CSU will serve customers stretching from Lincolnshire in the North, across Worcestershire in the West and as far South and East as Essex.
The two organisations claim the merger will allow them to provide a strong, locally responsive service and allow opportunities to develop new, innovative services and improve quality and value for money across a wider population.
John Parkes, managing director of NHS Greater East Midlands CSU, said: “This merger will bring together the best innovations from two successful CSUs to deliver excellent services and value for money. We are very excited about our new organisation and our contribution towards improving health outcomes for our population.”
Rachel Pearce, Managing Director of NHS Arden Commissioning Support, added: “Our two organisations already have strong working relationships and we share the same values and commitment to making CSUs a highly valued partner for our customers. We have a fantastic opportunity to spread best practice at scale by rolling out local specialisms across a broader range of customers.”
