£2.6m new health centre for Coventry
Clay Lane Health Centre has benefitted from a £2.6m refurbishment, and is being fitted out to accommodate three GP surgeries.
The new centre will also include treatment rooms, training rooms, a pharmacy, counselling rooms, a dental suite and a community meeting room. It meets BREEAM excellence requirements through sustainable materials and eco-technologies, including roof solar panels and light sensors.
Galliford Try has built the centre on behalf of Arden Estate Partnerships LIFT Company. Arden will then maintain the building for 25 years.
Sarah Raper, Community Health Partnerships’ senior regional director for the Midlands, said: “Our overall aim is to create the highest quality primary and community facilities that serve the needs of local communities and contribute towards improving people’s health and wellbeing. When it opens, Clay Lane Health Centre will certainly achieve that aim.”
Vicki Ridgway, development manager with Arden Estate Partnerships, commented: “By bringing together GP and other services into the new Health Centre, patients will benefit from increased access to services. The GP practices will also benefit, providing them with the potential to share support services and back office duties. Two other major advantages include the potential to offer extended opening hours, as well as a wider range of Primary Care services which wouldn’t otherwise be possible for small or a single-handed practice.
“Not only will the centre bring first class Primary Care provision onto the doorstep of local residents, but attract much needed additional customers to the local Ball Hill shopping parade.”
