Foundation trust chief executive fired after disciplinary hearing
Ian Renwick has been dismissed as chief executive of Gateshead Health NHS FT following a disciplinary meeting.
Renwick had served in the role for 12 years, but was dismissed after a disciplinary hearing convened by chair Julia Hickey on Friday.
In a statement sent to media, the trust said: “Gateshead Health Foundation Trust has taken the decision to dismiss Ian Renwick as chief executive.
“Mr Renwick now has the right of appeal against this decision and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this time.”
Deputy chief executive and director of finance John Maddison is now the acting chief executive.
Renwick now has 14 days to enter an appeal against the decision.
Gateshead Health NHS FT was rated ‘good’ in its most recent CQC inspection back in February 2014, and ‘good’ for the well-led section of the report.
