Leadership framework engagement exercise launched
An engagement exercise has been launched by the NHS Leadership Academy to facilitate the establishment of a framework for its leadership development plans in the long term.
The Academy has released a questionnaire as part of the exercise, aimed at determining how the healthcare system would want leadership development to develop over the next five years. It is asking for the assistance of NHS clinical and managerial staff at all levels to empower their strategy effectively.
The feedback will be used in the creation of the Academy’s five-year strategy, due to be finalised in January 2013.
Participants in the survey will be asked about a wide range of subjects, including which types of organisations the Academy should work with, who should be prioritised for leadership development and the areas of leadership development that should be concentred on for both individuals and organisations.
The issue of whether focus should be directed towards skills, toolkits and knowledge, behavioural skills and/or leadership styles will be debated in the questionnaire.
Jan Sobieraj, managing director of the NHS Leadership Academy, asserted: “The Academy is for the NHS and the health system. But if it is to be a successful strategic intervention and deliver outstanding leadership in health, it must co-design its products with the health system and focus its attention on areas where the system knows it will have the biggest impact.”
The NHS Leadership Academy’s engagement exercise will close on Friday 7 December 2012.
