Patient transportation in Cornwall to be taken over by NSL
NSL is to take over patient transportation at South Western Ambulance Trust, to provide more flexible services.
The clinical commissioning group wanted transport that would be available for longer hours at the same costs for Cornwall, Somerset and parts of Devon.
The contract starts from October and NSL will provide transportation from 7am until 9pm seven days a week, including bank holidays. Currently the trust provides services from 9-5, Monday to Friday.
NSL, formerly known as NCP, is best known for running car parks. The company also runs patient transport in the Midlands and has won a contract for NHS Kent and Medway transportation as well.
South Western Ambulance Trust will continue to run 999 ambulances and other non-emergency transportation.
