Healthcare companies invited to bid for £300,000 innovation fund

A new fund set up by Health Innovation Manchester is now open for businesses with “innovative healthcare products or services” to apply for their share of £300,000.

On the back of the £60m global genomics centre and a new technology partnership, Health Innovation Manchester’s Momentum Fund is aimed at bringing in proven innovations to the healthcare system in Manchester, primarily for mental health and community care.

SMEs are also encouraged to apply so long as they are market ready, or at least close to being so, and have involvement from a Greater Manchester of East Cheshire based NHS or social care body.

Projects can apply for up to £50,000 and will be funded for up to 12 months. The funding can be used for such ventures as market research, evaluation, clinical testing, third party fees and projects that could allow for early revenue generation.

Richard Deed, associate director for industry at Health Innovation Manchester, said: “Following the earlier successful funding rounds, we are delighted to launch the Momentum Fund and look forward to supporting more SMEs and healthcare innovators within this round.

“Previous Momentum Fund recipients have gone on to bring their innovations to market and have begun to make a real difference within Greater Manchester and beyond.

“We are keen to hear from companies who are as passionate as we are about improving the health and wellbeing of our citizens and boosting the local economy.”
