Health and social care integration complete
The largest integration of council and NHS care services has been finalised in Staffordshire as the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Partnership NHS Trust is now responsible for adult social and community healthcare.
Almost 1,000 social care staff and a budget of £153m have been transferred from the council to the new organisation, with savings predicted at up to £30m every year.
Cllr Matthew Ellis, cabinet member for adult wellbeing, told the Burton Mail: “This change will see social care and NHS staff working together as single teams under one organisation.
“It will deliver better, faster and more efficient services, breaking down barriers between services that has in the past let to fragmentation, confusion and inefficiencies.
“Less bureaucracy means more time spent with patients, concentrating on their care needs.”
