NHS Confederation develops new ICS toolkit

As our health and care services prepare to be brought closer together under the new Integrated Care System (ICS) model, NHS Confederation has developed a new toolkit to support members and patients with the transition.

In particular, the new support tool will help in explaining what ICSs are and the changes it will make to patient care to a range of key stakeholders.

As one of the most significant overhauls to NHS structure in recent years, clear and effective communications around ICSs is going to be essential to maintaining trust and buy-in from those involved with and accessing services from the care networks.

The online integrated care communications toolkit features a range of elements, including:

  • An ICS-related jargon buster
  • FAQs
  • Slide decks
  • Animated videos
  • Case studies
  • Podcasts
  • Links to other useful resources

It has been carefully designed to support ICS communications and engagement leads to communicate with the various key external audiences such as patients and the public, local authority members and employees, and Non-Executive Directors.

It was developed in conjunction with the expertise of the Local Government Association (LGA) and Healthwatch England.
