The NHS Property Services-funded Flourish Wellbeing Hub has officially opened in The Wirral, as the NHS continues to try and narrow health inequalities across the country.
The wellbeing hub is located at Victoria Central Hospital in Liscard and offers local residents a range of services to improve their general wellbeing as part of NHS Property Services’ National Social Prescribing initiative.
Five charities have joined forces to form the backbone of the new hub providing guidance and support services to the local residents in need. They are:
- Citizens Advice Wirral
- Age UK Wirral
- Wirral MIND
- Involve North West
- Change, Grow, Live
Around 70% of NHS Property Services’ expenditure is ringfenced for projects like the Flourish Wellbeing Hub – schemes that centre around flattening health disparities in high-medium deprivation areas.
The hub was opened by the MP for Wallasey, Dame Angela Eagle. She said: “Flourish Wellbeing Hub is the first Social Prescribing Wellbeing Hub in Wirral. I am pleased that it has been launched in Liscard at Victoria Central Hospital, where lots of local residents are already used to travelling to.
“The Hub brings together a range of excellent community and voluntary sector organisations and offers wrap-around services that will help people improve their health and wellbeing. I look forward to seeing the Hub develop in the coming months.”
The project is also being supported by the Ministry of Justice; Justice Minister, Lord Bellamy, who also helped open the new wellbeing centre, said: “Access to targeted and joined-up services as early as possible can make a huge difference to people when they are most in need of a helping hand.
“This hub will offer much-needed legal support to people in the Wirral in one easy-to-access space, reflecting the range of challenges they may be facing at times of difficulty.”
