Meet the Editorial Board

Dr Dave Haslam

Dr Dave Haslam is a General Practitioner in Watton-at-stone, Hertfordshire and chairman of the National Obesity Forum.

He specialises in obesity and also holds positions as Trustee of the Foundations Charity and is Executive Director, PCOS UK.

 Susie Sanderson, Board Member of the Council of European Dentists
Susie is the Honorary Treasurer and Board Member of the Council of European Dentists, and was formerly the Executive Board Chair at British Dental Association.
Nina Pinwill, Operational Lead, Cancer Drugs Fund, NHS England
Nina is Operational Lead at the Cancer Drugs Fund. Previously, she was the Associate Director and Appraisal Project Manager for Topic Selection at the Centre for Health Technology Evaluation for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). 
Professor David Colin-Thomé
David is the former National Clinical Director for Primary Care, and has also been a GP at Castlefields Health Centre in Runcorn, Senior Medical Officer at the Scottish Office and Director of Primary Care at North West and London Regional Offices.
Dr Michael Dixon, Chair, College of Medicine
Michael is also a GP in Cullumpton, Devon. Michael also chairs the national life check board and is a Senior Associate of the King's Fund and Honorary Senior Fellow in Public Policy at HSMC.
Lord Victor Adebowale, Chief Executive, Turning Point
Victor was awarded the CBE for services to the New Deal, the unemployed and homeless people in 2000 and was appointed as a cross-bench peer in 2001.
Julia Manning, Director, 2020health.org
2020health.org is the first web-based, clinician-led, independent think tank for health and technology. Julia is also Director of the Institute of Optometry and Founder member of the British Association of Behavioural Optometrists.
Saffron Cordery, director of policy and strategy, NHS Providers

Saffron Cordery is director of policy and strategy at  NHS Providers. She has extensive experience in policy development, influencing and communications and has worked in the healthcare sector since 2007.

Before moving into healthcare, Saffron was head of public affairs at the Local Government Association, the voice of local councils in England. Her early career focused on influencing EU legislation and policy development, and she started working life in adult and community education.

Daniel Mortimer, chief executive of NHS Employers

Danny Mortimer has been chief executive of NHS Employers since November 2014. NHS Employers is the voice of employers across the English NHS, and leads work relating to workforce policy and practice. He also serves as deputy chief executive of the NHS Confederation, of which NHS Employers is part.

Danny first worked in healthcare as a porter and a CSV care assistant before becoming a management trainee in Stoke-on-Trent. He worked in the NHS in Bath and Brighton before taking up his first director post in West Sussex. He then worked in executive roles in hospitals in Hertfordshire and Nottingham before joining NHS Employers. 

Danny is a chartered fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a Trustee of the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion and the NHS Retirement Fellowship, and chairs the Cavendish Coalition of social care and health organisations. 

Chris Walters, Chief Economist, NHS Improvement
Chris Walters is chief economist of NHS Improvement. He leads NHS improvement's programme of economic research and evaluation and oversees economic support to the organisation. Chris is also a member of the board of the Government Economic Service.
