116 dementia environment bids approved
Successful applicants for the Department of Health’s dementia environment funding have been announced. 42 NHS projects and 74 social care schemes have been approved for stage 1 of the £50m funding to improve environments for dementia care.
The projects will include using colour to mark out differences to aid memory, clearer signage and the opportunity for patients to take part in activities like gardening.
The DH is writing to each organisation to outline specific details of individual approvals and highlighting main national pilot development requirements. Stage 2 applications should be submitted by 30 April 2013.
The funding was oversubscribed, with 147 NHS bids covering 157 individual projects and 115 local authority bids covering 259 eligible individual projects.
