Almost 300 more GP schemes earmarked for NHS England investment

Almost 300 more GP schemes have been earmarked for investment by NHS England from 2016-17 as part of its Estates and Technology Transformation Fund.

Nearly 900 such schemes around the country have already been completed or are close to completion with patients and staff able to make use of new facilities. This announcement, which includes plans for scheme in the south, London and north, follows the declaration of schemes in the Midlands and the east of England already set to benefit, published last month.

The Estates and Technology Transformation Fund is a multi-million pound investment fund used by NHS England to improve premises and IT infrastructure and expand the range of services available to patients.

Local CCGs submitted recommendations for investment to NHS England in June 2016 in line with their estate and digital plans, with further schemes planned for future years.

“Today marks the next instalment of our practical action to strengthen GP services, in this case by providing modern buildings in which a wider range of local care can be offered to patients across England,” the CEO of NHS England, Simon Stevens, said at the NHS Clinical Commissioners’ annual conference.
