Transitional support funds for public health
The Department of Health is making transitional support funds available for local authorities to provide public health.
The funding will enable councils to manage the change and contribute towards costs associated with administrating the transition and minimising the diversion of staff and resources from day to day duties.
PCTs will allocate the transitional funds to councils and each will receive a share of £15m, based half on equal shares and half on a fixed per capita amount. PCT staff have been notified of the appropriate amount in a letter from the DH.
The transitional support funds are aimed to contribute towards extra HR capability, legal advice, estates and project planning.
