Dean Royles to move on from NHS Employers
Dean Royles is to step down as chief executive of NHS Employers in September, taking up a new role as director of human resources and organisational development at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Royles, who is a widely respected figure in the health sector has always been willing to talk to the media about complex issues such as pay negotiations, and will be sorely missed. The process to recruit his successor will start shortly, NHE has been told.
Rob Webster, chief executive of NHS Confederation, said: “NHS Employers has grown in importance and status over the last few years. Through Dean's leadership we now have strong teams dedicated to working with employers and supporting them to put patients first. Dean is a value-based leader who has made a major contribution to this success.
“He has been a class act at NHS Employers – he has inspired, challenged and supported colleagues at all levels – and we are all sad to see him go. His new post in Leeds is a fantastic job for him and we wish him and the team at Leeds well. He will make an excellent contribution.”
All of us here at NHE would also like to wish him the best of luck in his new venture.
