NHS Expo 2015 opens its doors
The 2015 edition of Health & Care Innovation Expo has opened its doors today with an array of speakers from across the sector sharing their experiences, plans and goals for transformation.
As always the NHE editorial team will be reporting live from the most important health event of the year, which takes place today and tomorrow at Manchester Central.
Ahead of the event, which is expected to attract around 5,000 visitors, there have already been some important announcements. NHS England boss Simons Stevens has outlined a new roadmap for improving the health and wellbeing of staff in the health service. He will explain even more later today.
And tomorrow, Tim Kelsey is set to urge health and social care providers to ditch “unnecessary reliance” on paper when treating patients, instead replacing it for “safer, more effective and efficient” technologies.
Health secretary Jeremy Hunt MP, who will be a keynote speaker today, will also tell Expo 2015 how technology is going to change the face of health care over the next decade.
The major transformational progress already made across the NHS, local authorities and the third sector will be showcased with large exhibition zones on Greater Manchester health and social care devolution, Digital Health, New Models of Care and Vanguard sites, and Preventing Diabetes.
Each of these will run their own programmes of events within their exhibition spaces, while delegates will be able to take part in more than 100 ‘pop-up university’ workshops led by national leaders and experts.
Delegates at this year’s Health & Care Innovation Expo will also have access to a new, interactive app – easily downloaded to Apple and Android devices, including iPhone and iPad.
It will allow visitors to access their personal Expo agenda, stay in touch with all the latest Expo 15 news and Twitter updates, chat and network with other delegates who have the chat facility switched on, view the agenda and speaker information, and allow them to find their way around Expo 15 with an interactive floor plan.
If you have an iOS device, an iPhone or iPad, then you need to search “Expo 2015” on the App Store If you have an Android phone or tablet you will need to search “Expo 2015” on the Google Play store.
