NHS Shared Business Services appoints new Managing Director

Erika Bannerman has been appointed as the new Managing Director of NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) following the departure of David Morris.

Ms Bannerman joins NHS SBS following a successful career to date in senior leadership, having previously held roles with Capita and the Manpower Group and brings with her a wealth of experience across business services, consultancy, digital and commercial partnerships and applying talent and technology to deliver services for public services.

In addition, she holds a number of non-executive director, trustee and advisory positions, such as acting as Chair of the SFJ Awards, a not-for-profit organisation committed to the development of skills and qualifications across the UK’s justice, fire and rescue, local government and armed forces sectors.

Ms Bannerman joins NHS SBS as the organisation continues its ongoing digital transformation of the non-clinical services it provides to more than 250 NHS organisations around the country.

With a workforce of over 1,500 employees and significant investments in new technologies, Ms Bannerman will ensure NHS SBS achieves its vision of ‘helping the NHS to save money and enhance quality so it can improve health, innovate to save lives and deliver better outcomes with care and compassion’.

She said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Managing Director of NHS SBS and privileged to lead an organisation that fulfils such a critical role within the NHS.

“I am excited to build on the impressive legacy that David Morris has shaped over the last five years and I wish him every success in his new role.

“One of the things that has impressed me most about NHS SBS, is the genuine commitment that exists across the organisation to add real value to our NHS partners.

“With such a dedicated and high-performing team in place, I’m confident that our reputation as an innovative, next generation shared service provider to the NHS will continue to grow.”

Outgoing Managing Director David Morris has been named Chief Executive Officer of Shared Services Connected Ltd (SSCL) – a joint venture involving the Cabinet Office and a sister organisation of NHS SBS.
