RSPH and CIMSPA form new health and fitness partnership
A new strategic partnership between the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) and the Chartered Institute for Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) has been set up to strengthen focus on health and fitness in the UK.
Alongside the announcement of the partnership, CIMSPA has published its Health Navigator Professional Standard, outlining professional standards for every role in sport and physical activity.
The RSPH is the first organisation to gain endorsement for this standard in support of their Level 3 Diploma in Health and Wellbeing Improvement.
This dual relationship will emphasise and develop the importance of exercise professionals within the health workforce, an idea that has been previously published in Going the Distance, a report from RSPH and UK Active.
Going the Distance explored the idea of including the 60,000 Exercise Professional Workforce into the public health system.
The link between healthcare and physical activity in on the rise, and this new collaboration aims to strengthen this connection and promote it within the public health industry.
The RSPH is the UK’s longest established public health body and CIMSPA is the professional development body for the sport and physical activity sector.
The partnership, diploma, and professional standards have been established to upskill health and fitness professionals, and support the NHS through health and sport as it was announced recently that swimming saves the NHS £357m a year.
