Everyone urged to make a pledge for NHS Change Day
It is NHS Change Day today, with staff, volunteers, patients and the public trying to top last year’s hugely successful event.
The aim is to pledge to do something that will ‘make a difference’ – no matter how big or small – with a target set of getting 500,000 pledges.
You can follow what is happening today via #NHSChangeDay twitter hashtag and the https://twitter.com/NHSChangeday account.
Visitors at NHS England’s Health and Care Innovation Expo 2014 in Manchester today can also visit the ‘graffiti wall’ at the event and be part of the drive for half a million pledges to improve care for people.
Christina McAnea, head of health at Unison, said: “NHS Change Day is an inspiring idea. It challenges the status quo and gives staff across the NHS the opportunity to think out of the box and come up with pledges that they believe will make a difference.”
Dr Damian Roland, senior paediatric registrar at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and one of the founders of NHS Change Day, said:“NHS Change Day is about breaking down traditional barriers and recognising that everyone who works in, uses or cares about the NHS has the power to make a difference.
“A single pledge might not sound like much on the face of it, but when hundreds of thousands of people from every part of the NHS join forces with patients to pledge, it can create massive momentum for improvement.”
You can make a pledge until 31 March. Visit www.changeday.nhs.uk
