In our first edition of 2022, we look to the future with how best to support and improve our health service. The NHS is set to continually grow and learn through digital innovation as well as further efforts made towards a sustainable way of working.

This magazine homes in on topics that are now more than ever vitally important to the healthcare sector as a whole, including: A greener NHS and building a better future, digitising the NHS and the future of technology within facilities and pharma.

We hear from the new CEO of NHS Counter Fraud Authority (NHSCFA), Alex Rothwell on his plans in his new role to continue developing intelligence whilst building up his own personal knowledge on the NHS fraud landscape (pg8). In addition, we explore the positive effects of digital innovation on the NHS’s footprint through Ben Tongue, the Sustainability lead for NHS Digital(pg27).

We also look to the UK Health Security Agency’s (formerly Public Health England) Kate Soldan and Professor Peter Sasieni who share their findings whilst on a mission to eradicate cervical cancer in young women through vaccination (pg62)

As well as these, we also hear from Tom Baverstock, a Cycle Paramedic from the London Ambulance Service who shares his experiences within the cycle fleet in the capital. Expanding on his experiences, he discusses both the psychical and environmental benefits of the cycle response team and reveals fascinating statistics on the success of the team (pg4)
