Siemens Healthineers has announced a new radiopharmacy in Dunstable, UK. Designed as the UK’s first 8X radiopharmacy, the manufacturing facility will deliver output at eight times the capacity of a single Radiopharma facility today. The £26 million investment is intended to bolster the long‑term supply of PET radiopharmaceuticals in the UK, supporting more consistent, reliable and regular availability as demand for PET/CT imaging continues to grow. It will also enable efficient nationwide distribution.
The 8X radiopharmacy combines state‑of‑the‑art technology with clean‑room manufacturing. The facility will house two high‑energy cyclotrons, multiple clean rooms and hot cells, purpose‑built dispatch areas, and an extensive quality control laboratory. All critical equipment and systems are designed with duplicate back‑ups, embedding redundancy and operational resilience throughout.
With development now well advanced, and key infrastructure already in place, the facility has been designed to supply radiopharmaceuticals at a scale sufficient to meet demand across the UK, supporting both current requirements and future growth.
Its strategic location has been selected to support efficient logistics, enabling same‑day delivery to PET/CT centres nationwide. This capability will also facilitate the introduction of next‑generation diagnostic and molecular therapy agents, improving clinical outcomes for patients and addressing the growing demand for advanced theranostics.
The investment builds on the global expertise of Siemens Healthineers in radiopharmaceutical production. The company operates a network of more than 60 radiopharmacies worldwide, including 18 across Europe, and brings over 20 years of experience in the UK. This track record underpins a continued commitment to delivering innovation reliably and safely into clinical practice.

Ghada Trotabas, managing director of Siemens Healthineers Great Britain and Ireland states: “The radiopharmaceutical market is accelerating, and supply must not become the limiting factor. That is why we are investing in an 8X radiopharmacy here in the UK, the first facility of its kind, designed to deliver eight times the production capacity of one of our conventional radiopharmacies. This is not just about scale. It is about resilience, reliability, and long-term certainty of supply. Above all, it is about giving the NHS, and the patients it serves, the confidence that access to critical diagnostics will keep pace with growing clinical demand, today and into the future.”
Josh Nutting, managing director, Radiopharma International at Siemens Healthineers states: “This announcement represents a significant milestone for our international Radiopharma business. With the 8X facility in Dunstable, we are making a long‑term commitment to the UK market - strengthening our ability to supply high‑quality radiopharmaceuticals reliably and at scale, while preparing for the next wave of diagnostic and therapeutic innovation.”
