Former Permanent Secretary at Home Office, Sir Philip Rutman has been appointed as a non-executive director on the Oxford Health NHS Trust’s board.
He will begin his new roll in the New Year after quitting his previous position at the Home Office due to bullying claims against Home Secretary Priti Patel, which were denied.
The part-time role will be paid and in addition to this position, Sir Philip will also become trustee and chair-designate for the National Churches Trust.
It had been claimed there will be no ‘direct overlap’ between Sir Philip’s work at the trust and the Home Office but he must not draw on ‘privileged information’ nor should he lobby the UK government or any associated companies for at least two years after his resignation from the Home Office.
The Advisory Committee on Business Appointments stated there is ‘low’ risk of his new role ‘being seen as a reward for decisions [made at the Home Office]’.
The Oxford Health NHS Trusts provides community and inpatients mental health care across the county, as well as children and young people’s mental health services in Bath, Swindon and Wiltshire.
