The King’s Fund is set for a strategy refresh following the appointment of a new director of policy, events and partnerships.
Current chief analyst Siva Anandaciva is set to take up the mantle over the coming months, having served as co-director of policy alongside Alex Baylis since the summer, after Sally Warren joined the Department of Health and Social Care to lead the development of the much-anticipated 10-year plan.
Experience
Before joining The King’s Fund in 2017 in a similar role, Anandaciva was head of analysis at NHS Providers – he also worked in the government on medicines policy.
Further experience includes being a member of the Office of Health Economics policy committee as well as the steering group of the BRACE Rapid Evaluation Centre.
The new policy head chaired NHS England and NHS Improvement’s national payment strategy advisory group as well.
“Siva has long led The King’s Fund’s work on NHS funding, finances, productivity and performance, driving national debate through his incisive analysis,” said The King’s Fund CEO, Sarah Woolnough, in response to the appointment.
She added: “He is an authority on health and care and his deep understanding is a huge asset for The King’s Fund. Siva will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of Director of Policy, Events and Partnerships.”
His new role takes lead on the organisation’s research, analysis, policy, events, and partnerships functions.
Future plans
Anandaciva is set to take up the position while major change is in the offing within the health sector, with the 10-year plan and spending review expected in spring.
He will be tasked with steering the charity through this crucial time and helping develop the organisation’s new strategy.
The King’s Fund will continue to advocate for prevention and care being delivered closer to home under Anandaciva’s leadership.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with brilliant colleagues, stakeholders and partners throughout the health and care sector over the coming years,” he said.
Woolnough concluded: “I am delighted that Siva will be taking up the new role at such a pivotal moment for the health and care system and at an exciting time for The King’s Fund as we develop our new strategy.”
The start of next year will also see Anandaciva join Barts Health NHS Trust as an associate non-executive director.
